  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 8 oz. brick-style cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Prepare the topping by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter until crumbly.
  3. Combine diced apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients alternately with milk.
  7. Layer half the batter in the pan, followed by half the apple mixture and half the cream cheese filling; repeat layers.
  8. Top with crumb mixture and bake for 60-70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool before glazing with a mixture of powdered sugar and milk.
