Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup softened butter (for filling)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (for icing)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (for icing)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Milk to adjust icing consistency

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in sugar, egg, yolk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  2. Add flour and salt; mix until combined. Gradually incorporate remaining flour until soft and slightly sticky.
  3. Knead in blue food coloring until evenly distributed. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours until doubled.
  4. For the filling, mix softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon; fold in crushed cookies and mini chocolate chips.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly over it. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 rolls.
  6. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For icing, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and enough milk for desired consistency.
  8. Drizzle icing over warm rolls; top with additional crushed cookies and mini chocolate chips as desired.
