  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 2 cups cooked turkey, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups drained sauerkraut
  • 1 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for greasing)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the rye bread into cubes or slices and layer half at the bottom of the dish.
  3. Top with half of the turkey, followed by half of the Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and dressing. Repeat the layers with remaining ingredients.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.
