  • 1/2 cup vegan butter or margarine (chilled)
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar (divided)
  • 45 apples (cored and sliced)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Dash of lemon juice (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons apricot jam (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9-inch loose-bottom tart pan.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour and chilled vegan butter until crumbly. Stir in sugar and cold water until a smooth dough forms; chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, and flour.
  5. Roll out the dough and fit into the prepared pan. Layer spiced apples over the crust and drizzle with melted vegan butter.
  6. Bake for about 70 minutes until golden brown. Glaze with apricot jam mixed with water after cooling slightly.
